Reuben from Next Adventure walks us through the Saddle Peak ski touring pack from Mystery Ranch. This is a well-designed pack with room for all your gear, multiple ski carrying configurations, and a dedicated avy pocket for your snow tools.
- Hey folks, I'm Ruben from Next Adventure. We're here today to talk about the Saddle Peak backpack, a ski touring backpack from Mystery Ranch.
Mystery Ranch is a small brand based out of Montana. They make incredibly durable packs, and they've been known to make backpacks for the military and for wildland firefighters. These packs are incredibly comfortable, even when loaded with heavy amounts of gear such as your skis and gear for even an overnight tour.
These packs are incredibly durable. The Saddle Peak is made out of 500 denier polyurethane coated nylon, meaning it uses an incredibly beefy material. Mystery Ranch uses high-density foam for the harness system. The Saddle Peak features a side entry zipper allowing the user to access the pack even when there are skis on it. It also has a dedicated avalanche tool kit compartment, specially marked with bright zipper pulls in order to store your probe and shovel for when you need them in a hurry.
This year, the Saddle Peak won Outside Magazines Gear of the Year Award. The Saddle Peak bag allows you to carry skis, both a-frame, and diagonally across the back. The pack features hip belt pockets and taped zippers and adjustable straps on the harness. They also make a model with a women's specific harness.
