The Full Review:
The Edelrid Mega Jul is an auto-locking tubular belay device. It's light, slick, and fantastic once you get the hang of it. Upon purchasing one, take some time to play with it and learn all the ins and outs of using it before heading outside. Also make sure you have a carabiner that fits in the hole designed to facilitate easier lowering in guide mode and on rappel.
The Good:
Very lightweight, most inexpensive autolocking belay device out there, made of durable steel.
The Bad:
Tricky to use at first, can be hard to uncam at times.
The Bottom Line:
Buy this device, learn how to use it properly, and you'll be psyched. It's a solid piece of equipment, and it's now my full-time belay device.
