Difficulty: Strenuous - 45 miles in 4 days with multiple mountain passes, some of which required route finding, at elevation.

Finally getting into the Winds! Start from Green River Lakes Trailhead and exiting at Elkhart Park Trailhead this 45-mile point to point hike is a perfect introduction to this iconic mountain range in western Wyoming. This is Grizzly country so taking proper bear precautions is important. There are a total of ten trailheads to access the west side of the Winds and anything from easy day hikes to 100+ mile backpacking trips are possible. The Continental Divide Trail also runs most of the length of this range and is easy to pick up from multiple trailheads.
Make sure to practice the Leave No Trace principles as this area is seeing more and more visitors.
