The Full Report:
Mount Robson Provincial Park was my first stop on a two-week trip to the Canadian Rockies. What a way to start a vacation! Unfortunately, all the backcountry permits were taken so I decided to do the full 26 miles to Berg Lake in a day. This long day trip had everything. Overwhelming large and jagged peaks, lush forests, pristine turquoise alpine lakes, waterfalls, wildlife, panoramic vistas, etc.
In a region dominated by Jasper, Banff, and Yoho national parks this little provincial park flies under the radar a bit. It catches enough attention with the visitor center being alongside the highway but most only scratch the surface since you can see Mount Robson from the back viewing deck. If you can't get a backcountry permit there is a large campground across the highway from the visitor center. Set up camp there and get your adventure on. Not much else needs to be said. If you are visiting this area of the world figure out a way to work this small slice into your itinerary. It will be well worth your time.
