The Full Report:
When I don't have any adventure plans sometimes the easiest thing to do it to go explore the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and see what I can find. Well, this past weekend I found quite a gem. It was Iron Creek Falls. The trail to the falls is located right off Forest Road 25 on the way to Mt. Saint Helens, but you'll want to look it up on google for accurate directions. There is a nice pull out on the side of the road with a sign. There were plenty of parking spots and it wasn't crowded at all, even on a weekend day. It’s a short walk down a nice path. Within minutes you are at a beautiful clear pool and a wonderful fountain-like waterfall pouring into it.
There is enough space to sit down on the beach alongside the pool and have a picnic if you'd like. Also, for a hot day, this would be a great place to take a swim. I really enjoyed being able to walk beside the falls and view it from behind in this cave-like section with beautiful moss covering the rocks. All in all, this was a wonderful place to spend a few hours and enjoy the day. I will be going there again for sure. Go check it out!
