The Full Report:
My good friend Pemba and I decided we needed to get some climbing done outdoors on what was to be a beautiful weekend. Neither of us had been to Leavenworth before so we packed up my trusty Subaru and headed out. We both predominantly boulder and that would be our focus on this trip. Regardless, you can do it all (boulder, sport, trad) in Leavenworth.
The town itself is a kitschy tourist trap modeled after Bavarian architecture. Even the McDonald's is Bavarian themed. A visit to the Leavenworth Sausage Garten either on the way in or out of town from your trip will do you well.
Our short trip was a big success and we had a lot of fun. Since it was our first time we did a fair bit of scouting and route projecting. We chose to spend our two sessions (one Sunday, one Monday) within Forestland Boulders. There are several other areas that you can visit and you can find info on those in the link above to Mountain Project. Forestland will keep most happy and the grade of problems offers something for everyone.
Bring all the tape. and all the salve. The rock here is granite and is sharper than a knife edge.
