Value Rating: 10 Durability Rating: 9 Overall Rating: 9.5 Location of Test: Backpacking in Snow Duration of Test: 3 days 3 nights Product Name: Ultralight Camera Case Product Brand: Osprey Best Use: Hiking, Camping, Skiing, Sports, Everyday Osprey Ultralight Camera Case The Full Review: I am super stoked about this case. For years I have been active in photography in the outdoors. My constant battle has been trying to find a way to keep my camera well protected while keeping it easily accessible. Usually the only options I've found have been very heavy, bulky and have kept me from being able to be active while carrying them. On my recent backpacking trip through Olallie Lake Wilderness, I found the Osprey "Ultralight Camera Case" to be none of those things. Osprey Ultralight Camera Case Usually, when I go backpacking I don't like having the camera out because it can easily fall or smack against something, so I pack in in my bag. But this makes it difficult to dig out my camera every time I see a breathtaking sight and want to take a picture. Osprey Ultralight Camera Case This case has multiple attachment points that made it very easy to keep out and attached to my pack. First, the strap is very easy to put around your neck making it easy to reach the camera in a hurry. Secondly, I found that clipping the case to the sternum strap on my pack let it hang well and took the pressure off my neck. Thirdly, and for me the favorite method, was using the Velcro strap on the back of the camera case and strapping it on the hip belt on my pack. This was the most convenient position I have found for a camera case yet. This allowed me to have the case at waist level all day, so it was extremely easy to take my camera in and out to take pictures. Osprey Ultralight Camera Case With no weight hanging from my neck I barely noticed the case was there. It was super lightweight and felt durable enough to just put on the ground when I took breaks. The case also has extra pockets for SD cards and accessories. My camera also felt like it fit perfectly in it, so if it were to fall it would be well cushioned. I bought mine for $40 from Next Adventure and feel like I've got more than I expected for the money I spent. I think you will see me sporting this case on most of my outdoor journeys.
The Good Ultralight! 0.46 LBS. Durable Shoulder/Neck strap Easy zippers Extra pockets Great for outdoors Great Price Awesome velcro belt strap! (favorite feature!) Osprey makes great products The Bad: I had it out with lots of snow and it stayed super dry and seemed to be water resistant, but I'm sure after lots of rain the case could start to absorb water. Though this could easily be remedied with a dry bag. The Bottom Line: I love this case. Awesome Price. Cool Color. So convenient to take the camera in and out. Easy zippers. Ultralight! Very Durable and I feel like my camera would be very protected from any impact. I would recommend the case to anyone who likes to take photos in the great outdoors!
