The Full Review:
The NRS Havoc Helmet is the go-to helmet for folks who don't want to break the bank. It really is a great value for the price and you’ll frequently see raft guide companies handing these out to clients. Lots of whitewater folks keep these as backup helmets or as a spare for friends. The awesome thing about this helmet is that it really is one size fits most. It has a huge range of sizes and is easily adjustable in the back by just twisting a little knob to tighten or loosen.
This helmet is also pretty darn comfy. I've worn it on many multi-day trips and day trips and have never felt like I need to take it off due to a lack of comfort. It's also pretty lightweight which adds to the comfortability. The only thing I'd say about a helmet like this is that it was not made for high-speed impacts. So, for the big-time whitewater kayaker, I'd suggest something with for carbon fiber layers woven into it rather than just the plastic. It's a great helmet for anything on class 3 or less.
The Good:
Comfy!
Adjustable
One size fits most
Awesome price
Great brand
The Bottom Line:
The bottom line is if you are looking for a solid helmet but don't want to break the bank, the NRS havoc is the top choice hands down. It's comfortable, easily adjustable, and comes in a variety of colors.
