The Full Review:
Let me just start this out by saying I am not a pillow person. I use a super flat pillow at home if at all. I had heard about how amazing the Fillo was and I wanted to see what all the hype was about.
One of the coolest things about this pillow is the combination of baffled air cells and thick foam to help dampen the "pool toy" sounds you get from most air cell pillows. The single locking inflation valve in the pillow is very easy to inflate. The thick foam insert can be removed for washing. The outside material is slightly different between the solid color pillows versus the patterned option. I am reviewing the patterned option that has soft jersey material on the outer while the solid color versions have a micro suede feel. I really enjoy how adjustable the Fillo is. Fully inflated, you get a pillow close to your pillow at home. I barely inflate my pillow and let the foam do most of the work.
The integrated stuff sack is about the size of an avocado and weighs nine ounces – small enough to carry into the backcountry or toss in your carry-on for the plane. Nemo did a great job making a product you can take anywhere and get a good night’s rest.
The Good:
The luxury of home in the backcountry
The size of an avocado packed up and only nine ounces!
Soft outer material
Removable foam for easy washing
The Bad:
I have one complaint about this pillow and it isn't a deal breaker for me. The material Nemo has used on the bottom of the pillow is slippery. When I use the pillow on my sleeping pad it slides around a bit. When using a sleeping bag you don't notice it at all.
The Bottom Line:
Do you like to sleep well? Do you use a pillow daily? Buy this pillow. It is a little pricey compared to others but when you wake up refreshed while your friends are sleepy-eyed, it's worth it.
