I have owned my LifeStraw for the better part of two years now. I bought this for several reasons. First being its simplicity. No batteries, no power, no parts to replace. Second being its compact and lightweight design. At 9" long and 1" in diameter, it slips right into a pocket. It also comes with a neck cord. See a water source, drink from it. You will barely notice it is there since it weighs only 2 ounces. The third is its ease of use. You open both protective caps and drink until you are happy. Any water source anywhere.
This item has helped me ditch my backpack on day adventures in the NW. With the abundance of water sources, there is no need to carry a heavier bottle or take a backpack with a bladder in it. I put a couple of snacks in another pocket and off I go. I also take it backpacking with me. It saves me time once I get to camp because I don't have to go get more water for cooking and washing up.
Their website claims it lasts for 1,000 liters giving it plenty of life for even avid outdoors enthusiasts.
With the LifeStraw being simple and compact it is applicable not only for outdoors-oriented people. Make it part of emergency car kit or prep kit (for that big NW earthquake or other disasters) and feel confident about not dying of dehydration.
