The Full Review:
I purchased the G3 skins because they have one of the best reputations around for long-lasting skins (if taken care of properly). My past ski instructor has had his for 12 years and the glue still works great. The first thing I like about these skins is the clips G# uses to attach their climbing skins to the front and back of the ski. They are all metal and therefore should last quite a long time. I also love the adjustability for the length. Adjustments are easy and offer a decent range of lengths so I can use it on a couple different pairs of skis. Another great feature is the extra plastic piece on the tip of the skin that is great for breaking trail as you kick through deep snow.
I have had the opportunity to use these skins in an array of different conditions. On icy snow, I was surprised at the grip I had going uphill as well as in some deep wet powder. On a side note, if you know that it’s going to be a bit warm during your trip, put on skin wax before you go out. Even the best skins can clog up with snow and ice. Other than that, they are lightweight, cool to look at, and stick really well.
The Good:
Durable
Lightweight
easy on/off clips
Lost lasting reputation
Great grip and glide!
Comes with skin cutter
Come with "skin saver mesh"
The Bottom Line:
The bottom line is that G3 makes some flat out bomber skins that I would trust on any backcountry tour or mountain ascent.
