Gear Review: Eddyline Sitka ST Kayak
The Full Review:
With a length of only 13’ 9” and weighing in at on 43 lbs. the Eddyline Sitka ST Kayak is the lightest and smallest touring kayak offered by Eddyline. I had the pleasure of demoing one these with the @happypaddlin crew of Eddyline reps on the gorgeous Deschutes River arm of The Cove Palisades State Park this weekend.
Let’s start with the deck layout and how well outfitted it is! The deck lines, both forward and behind the paddler, are designed to hold all of your essential goodies (extra breakdown paddle, bilge pump, rain jacket, etc ) The two dry hatches provide you with more than enough room for storming the seas or large body of waters on your next adventure.
The cockpit design in the Sitka ST kayak offers built-in thigh braces, easily adjustable footpegs, and an effortless multi-adjustable seat. Once properly fitted these combined features make you feel like the kayak is just an extension of your body.
Lastly, but never forgotten, the sharp design of the hull, keel, and skeg of Eddyline Sitka ST was built to cut the seas or a large body of water with little to no effort like Arthur pulling Excalibur from its stone, it tracks and edges effortlessly even after a full day of paddling. I would give the Sitka ST solid 5/5 review with zero hesitation, a must-try from your local friendly paddler.
