Event Report: 2016 PDGA Women's Global Disc Golf Event
The 2016 Women's Global Event is in the books. Over 1600 ladies took part in this PDGA worldwide event that is designed to get more ladies and girls out playing disc golf. Again this year the Women of DGOD ladies & the Chick Flick crew teamed up to put on the largest local event in the World. There were 97 ladies who braved the drizzly weather at Horning's Hideout.
There were some new Junior divisions added this year 6 and under & 8 and under, and our local event had the most of the younger ladies signed up than any other event in the World. The WGE is a ratings based event and all the participants play two rounds on the same day at their local events. The ladies with the highest combined ratings for the two rounds will win their divisions. This is a free event, and the first 800 ladies to sign up received a player pack with items sponsor by national & local companies. The Chick Flick donated 800 koozies for the WGE player pack. Our title sponsor for the Chick Flick Next Adventure generously donated some discs to use for prizes at our local event.
Some of the ladies from our event placed very well nationally:
Joleigh Miller - placed 1st in 16 and under junior girls
Toni Hoyman - placed 3rd in pro senior grand masters
Joann Partridge - placed 3rd in intermediate
Alecia Fraser - placed 3rd in Novice
Lucy Burks - placed 3rd in 12 and under girls
Ebonnie Hayes - placed 2nd in 8and under girls

Petra Aman - placed 3rd in 6 and under girls
Cindy McMahan - placed 6th in advanced grand masters

Everyone had a great time at the 2016 WGE, and we can't wait for the next one that will take place in 2018.
