This past weekend at Milo McIver state park some of the best disc golfers in the world gathered for the annual Beaver State Fling disc golf tournament. Some of the best professional disc golfers in the world competed in the PDGA National Tour event, while some top amateurs from around Oregon, Washington & beyond took part in the PDGA A tier event.
The Next Adventure Disc Golf Team was well represented in both events with Jason Pinkal & Dan Carpenter competing in the Pro Master division, Craig Neilson competing in the Pro Grand Masters division, Dan Brown Jr. competing in the Advanced division, Erin Reichel & Tanya Spence competing in women’s Advanced division, and Cindy McMahan competing in the women’s Advanced Masters division.
The amateurs received a very nice players pack thanks to some awesome sponsors like KEEN, Next Adventure & Innova. The dri fit shirts & fifty/fifty bottles provided by Next Adventure were awesome!
The caddie book that every player received did not disappoint again this year. Along with detailed full color maps of both the west & east courses their was a page dedicated to Kel Carver whom was a beloved member of the local disc golf community who we lost this year. Kel was a dedicated BSF staff member as well the artist responsible for many of the event graphics for numerous events along with this years BSF logo. Kel will be dearly missed.
Paul McBeth took the Pro Men’s title in spectacular fashion by winning a thrilling 3 hole sudden death playoff with Will Schusterick, while up and comer Jessica Wesse edged out Valerie Jenkins for her first National Tour Win.
The Next Adventure Disc Golf Team had a good showing as well with Erin Reichel & Tanya Spence going 1-2 in the Women’s Advanced Division. Jason Pinkal finished 6th & Dan Carpenter finished 10th in Pro Masters, while Craig Nielsen finished 6th in Pro Grand Masters, and Cindy McMahan finished 3rd in Women’s Advanced Masters.
Jeff Hagerty & Jeff Mttl along with many volunteers really put on a great event this year as they do every year. Hats off to their dedication to make the Beaver State Fling Oregon’s premier disc golf event year after year.
