Full Review: As a someone who surfs by default, I was initially averted to the idea of a touring SUP because it performs differently in the surf than an all around or surf SUP. Then I tried the Amundson TR (my first try at a touring board) and realized that these crafts are designed very well for their intended purpose. This board glides through the water almost effortlessly, and although it may be a little bit slow as far as initial acceleration, the top speed is pretty fast and can be kept up easily.
Also, the TR is equipped with a touring skeg with more surface area than a standard all around skeg. This allows for better tracking which translates to less switching sides while stroking so you can go faster! Although the skeg provides great tracking, the board is still maneuverable when turning with bow strokes (less resistance because there is no skeg near the nose of the board, only the tail).
The Good List: Lightweight, durable, and great glide and tracking.
The Not so Good List: Sometimes the deck pad delaminates at the corners.
The Bottom Line: Great performance board for your touring SUP'er
The Amundson SUP: perfect for any romantic rendezvous.
